Off The Grid Music Festival 2017

A fundraising event for Camphill Village

DATE - Saturday 25th February
TIME - 13h00 until 01h00

Come and enjoy a fun filled family event with music, great food, beer and amazing people. This annual event is a fundraiser supporting Camphill Village West Coast, a dynamic community working with intellectually challenged adults, where we care about the environment and produce quality products in a natural farm setting.

Gates open at 13:00 and a DJ will get you in the mood until the live music starts at 17:00 with the hip hop sounds of Akona, (also known by his stage name Mad_A-CPT) a new talent for the Westcoast, for some lekker local flair. Rockers Bootleggers will get you on your feet and the echoes of one of the most versatile and talented guitarists in SA, Albert Frost, will get you in the mood for more.

Majozi, who has had a phenomenal year in 2016, will brighten the stage with his popular and soulful songs and new indie band Jackal & the Wind will make you want to party all night. Keeping the stage alive as MC will be the lovely Marguerita Freeks. Add to this the much celebrated Freshlyground and Off the Grid is set to be one of the social highlights on the Western Cape calendar in February 2017.

This year we’re adding in the option of camping for festival-goers who prefer not to drive home afterwards. Tickets available from

The Festival Story

Camphill Village Westcoast is home to approximately 90 intellectually disabled adults who also work on the farm in a dairy, bakery, cosmetics workshop and on the land.

Our music festival started off as a once-off event to celebrate our 50th anniversary in 2014, when Freshly Ground played for us, with Valiant Swart, the Bootleggers and more, and we built our outdoor stage especially for the occasion.

Our Music Festival is now an ANNUAL EVENT, bringing great South African bands and artists to our outdoor stage at Camphill Village and raising funds to support the community and help us become more sustainable as an organic organisation. But it is about so much more than raising funds, bringing the community together, celebrating with fantastic music, spreading awareness of the work we do to the greater Cape Town community, and making lifelong memories for our residents; it’s a dream come true for many of them to have some of their musical heroes play on their home turf and to get to meet them in person.

New name - Off The Grid

This is our third music festival and it now has a new name. “Off the Grid” was the idea of one of our donors. This is a catchy name that encompasses our dedication to becoming self-sufficient through interesting projects and developments on the farm. For instance, we currently provide 65KW solar electricity and aim to generate 100KW during the next year. “Off the Grid” is also a play on festivalgoers having to leave the city for a short drive to our lovely farm.
